Problem with display brightness on iOS 18 beta 4

The problem is as follows.

iPhone 14 Pro Max, installed iOS 18 beta 4.

After locking the screen, the brightness resets to the lowest value. This happens every time the phone is locked.

It doesn't matter if True Tone is enabled or not; the brightness automatically sets to the lowest level. Almost to zero.

Please fix this.

Hey,

I've tried restarting my iPhone 14 Pro and that seemed to have fixed the issue at first. After locking it and unlocking it, though, the issue persisted. I turned off Auto Brightness and that actually fixed the issue.

While it's not a permanent fix, you'll probably be able to use your phone without having to set the brighness up every time you unlock it. At least until they launch a fix for the issue.

Kind regards, D.

The Developer Forums aren't really the right place to raise bugs in a new version of an OS. Apple's engineers aren't reading through these pages waiting to see if anyone's found a bug before they fix it.

These forums are for third-party developers writing apps for Apple's platforms to discuss issues with their code.

You need to raise each issue you find separately at https://www.apple.com/feedback/ You can post the FB numbers here if you want, so that others can link to them.

Exactly the same here for my iPhone 14 Pro Max, great description.

same issue....

I've been experiencing the same thing! on my iphone 14 pro. I had auto brightness on and off and still doesn't work.

Same Problem with my 2 Iphone 14 Pro......

Same problem every time the phone is locked. Outside is impossible to see the screen with brightness at lowest level!!

I fixed the issue by enabling the “Always on” option for the disptlay.

Turning "Always On" worked for me too.

Same problem here, 14 ProMax AlwaysOn works here too

Always on fixed but that shouldnt be the fix

if you press the power button on the side the screen brightness comes back normally.

the issue is when you tap the screen and swipe up to unlock that the brightness is set to the lowest setting.

just tap the side power button as a workaround for now.

Same here with the latest beta test..

Having the same problem also on a iPhone 14 Pro Max. Each time the phone goes to sleep and I wake it, the screen is nearly black and I can't see anything, I have drag down and manually adjust the screen brightness every single time. Was not doing this in the previous BETA builds.

Yeah, it’s really bad. Almost like the display adjustment is reversed. Needs a quick update.
