Increased Memory Limit for QL Preview Generator
we have written a QL preview generator for some 3D data formats not supported by the AR Quicklook generators included in iOS. however, we are struggeling with the 100 MB memory ceiling imposed on an app extension in iOS. we have included the "Increased Memory Limit" entitlement in both the app and in the preview extensions. nevertheless, the preview generator is limited to 100 MB, even on most recent devices like iPhone 16 Pro Max. we can even see 100 MB limit when we attach to the process with Xcode. my question: did we miss anything? are there additional steps necessary to obtain the increased memory limit? must we explicitly apply for it? 500 MB would be fine (our preview generator does not load textures). best regards

xform called "Scene" breaks animations on Quicklook starting with iOS15
Hello, We discovered that a bunch of our old animated models were no longer animated on iOS15 and onwards. After a few days of playing spot the difference between usda files I noticed that all the broken models had an xform called "Scene". Lo and behold, changing the name of that xform fixed the issue on all the models. Even lowercase "scene" makes the animations work again. Is "Scene" a reserved keyword or something? What other keywords do we need to avoid so we can create more robust USDZ files? I'm surprised this issue isn't more widespread considering Blender wraps models in a "Scene" node. At the drive link below you can find two animated cube USDZs. The only difference is the name of one of the xforms. The one with a "Scene" xform is not animated in quicklook (replicated on iPhone 13 iOS v15.2, iPhone 13 iOS v 18.3, and various devices on Browserstack including iPhone 16 iOS v18.3). https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1dch1WaM9O6mbHy29S6NGWgnSHkZkPiBf?usp=sharing

SwiftUI Manual Orientation Control for Views - Solution and a Bug!
I am working on a project that contains a QuickLook View and Some ARViews. I want to restrict the entire app to Portrait orientation, but I want to allow the ARView to have Portrait and Landscape orientation. If I restrict the app to Portrait in the Deployment Info settings, we can still turn the device to landscape in the ARView, However, there is an issue with "some" spatial audio files within the digital experience. Some spatial audio items, are placed appropriately, and others are panned oddly left. If we allow Landscape Left and Right in the Deployment Info settings, all spatial audio behaves appropriately. So, we need to "lock" every other view as Portrait and only allow Portrait and Landscape on the ARView. I'm not smart enough to know how to do that, but I found this excellent package on GitHub. It works as expected. https://github.com/wvteijlingen/swiftui-interface-orientation However! When we wrap SwiftUI with UIKit, it appears every single view that contains an ARView is initialized at launch even though it is not visible. So, when the app launches, it is running multiple ARViews at once. It appears we need to have some kind of lazy loading, so this doesn't occur, but again, I am not knowledgable enough for this yet. I tried to wrap it all in a LazyVStack, I tried a LazyView struct, but I couldn't get it to build appropriately. I feel like this might be a common thing, so maybe there's already a simple answer I'm not able to locate? Any ideas??

Nested USDZs new behaviour with Quick Look
Hello there I have a nested USDZ file I had created a long time ago with some make-up products. Its behaviour was always the same in the past: nested usdz files allow you to control each object "nested" separately. So I used this as a way to allow people to play around with a "set of objects". Today I went to try it and since I'm on ios 18 it shows an "assets tab" on the bottom that allows me to see all the assets inside the tab but doesn't allow me to see or anchor them at all! What changes do I need to do in order for this to work and where can I check documentation on these new behaviours for USDZ files? And what will this allow for in the future? Thank you in advance

Image Anchoring Not Working Outside Reality Composer/Reality Composer Pro
Hi everyone, I’m having trouble with image anchoring when working on a project in Reality Composer and Reality Composer Pro. Here’s the issue: 1. What I’m Trying to Achieve: I want to create an AR scene where an object anchors to an image I provide. I don't want to create an app for this but just use the USDZ File the Scene creates. The USDZ File then should be viewable via the various integrations of AR Quick Look across the Apple Ecosystem. The image anchoring works perfectly when I preview the scene inside Reality Composer using AR mode. 2. The Problem: When I export the project (tried both USDZ and Reality formats) and open it on my iPhone using the Files app (which uses AR Quick Look), the image anchoring no longer works. The object doesn’t anchor to the provided image as expected. It just anchors to the first plane it recognizes and not the image. 3. What I’ve Tried: Exporting the scene in USDZ format. Exporting the scene in Reality format. Both formats result in the same issue: no image anchoring outside of the Reality Composer environment. Trying different images but all resulting in same manor that the image anchoring is not working Tried different iOS Version but resulting in the same issue 4. Current Setup: Reality Composer Pro version: 2.0 iPhone model: iPhone 13 Pro iOS version: 18.1. 5. What I Need Help With: Is there a way to ensure image anchoring works in exported files when opened via AR Quick Look? Do I need to configure something specific during the export process? Are there limitations in AR Quick Look that prevent image anchoring from functioning correctly? Do i need to create an app to make this work? I’d appreciate any advice or insights from the community. If anyone has experience with similar issues or knows of a workaround, please let me know! Thanks in advance, Mav

AR Quick Look IOS 18 Safari Error
When opening the 3D model in Augmented Reality on Safari, the model initially displays correctly. However, when attempting to move, resize, or rotate it, the device screen freezes along with the Augmented Reality view, and sometimes it crashes the application. This same model does not have any issues when opened in Chrome. Has anyone experienced something similar, and if so, do you know how to resolve it?

Remote spatial images
Hello 👋 following questions: I am using a Simulator with VisionOS 2.0 installed on. I am trying to display a remote spatial image. But I cannot display it. I am trying to use the new updates form Webkit (https://webkit.org/blog/15443/news-from-wwdc24-webkit-in-safari-18-beta/#spatial-media) and show the image in a webview. But I cannot make it work. The image is not shown. In the native version I thought about the new quicklook features that would help to display the spatial media. But I think this is also just for local files. Right? I downloaded the file before but no success. Any Ideas how I can display remote spatial images?

ARQuickLook controls not displaying in SwiftUI
Hi, I'm embedding the QLPreviewController in a UIViewControllerRepresentable. When I view .usdz models I don't see the AR/Object selector at the top, nor the sharing button. I have tried presenting modally with a .sheet modifier and had the same result. What do I need to do to get the controls? Thanks, code attached. Code Spiff
