UpRez AI: 2x/4x on device image upscaling

Hi all, I've built UpRez AI - an image upscaling app that bundles 3 models to choose from with the option for selecting 2x/4x scaling factor preference. I was annoyed with how many of these apps are now predatory with their pricing models (subscription based) so the plan is this will be a one time purchase app that will NEVER contain any subscriptions.

Because AI is notorious for introducing "artifacts" within images (distorted hands, text, faces etc) this app differentiates itself by providing a blending brush tool to allow for lightly blending back in parts of the original image to create a composite upscaled image.

The app seems to excel with Anime images (line art and other art styles) with the "Real ESRGAN Anime" model. BSRGAN is optimized for detailed photography and Real ESRGAN standard offers Balanced enhancement for general photos. As always, results vary and depend on quality of the original image provided.

Solid foundation with real potential — UI is clean, but image settings don’t always stick

Review:

I’ve been testing UpRez AI and overall, it’s a solid tool with an easy-to-follow interface and a clean layout. I really appreciate that this app doesn’t rely on a subscription model — that alone puts it above many others.

However, I noticed a few things that might need refining:

🛠️ 1. Image Settings Glitch I adjusted my settings before uploading an image, but when the image was processed, it didn’t follow my selected scale or model choice. Not sure if this is a UI bug or logic glitch, but the output ignored my pre-set preferences.

🎨 2. Blending Tool Advice When restoring distorted areas (like over-smoothed arms, faces, or eyes), blending once delivers more natural results. Going over the same spot twice often overcorrects and loses structure. Trusting the first blend gives better outcomes.

📸 3. Camera Feature Suggestion Adding a native camera mode to capture images directly into the app might help avoid compression artifacts and improve edge clarity. This could improve real-time use and results.

🔍 4. Upscaler Border Issue I tested both 2x and 4x upscaling. Output looked sharp, but sometimes added a black border around the image. Would love an auto-crop or border-trim toggle to maintain clean output.

📊 Final Rating: 3/5 as-is, but strong potential to reach 5/5 with these small updates. The core tech is there — just needs a little polish.
