I was trying to update my iPad 8th Generation, but ran into some trouble.
Since my iPad didn’t have enough capacity to install the update directly, I connected it to my MacBook M1 and downloaded the iPad OS 18 IPSW file.
Unfortunately, it didn’t go as planned. I got an error message saying,
"The iPad 'My iPad' could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible."
Has anyone else faced this issue or found a solution? Any help would be appreciated!
I'm having the exact same issue. The OTA updates don't work well because of limited space. Even when I do clear enough space by offloading apps, the required space goes up and it always tells me I need more.
Tried updating today via IPSW and getting the same error.
So the same thing is happening to me basically I have enough space and then when I go to download the beta version, it comes up and says unable to install more storage required… 🤔 so is there any fix to this or do we just have to wait I thought iPad eighth generation was compatible to get the 18 OS. I’m finding the Apple restrictions kind of debilitating honestly.
